Lincoln Trail College Spring 2024 Honors
Lincoln Trail College has released its academic honor lists for the Spring 2024 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chancellor’s Honors List, the President’s Academic Honors List, and the Dean’s Academic Honors List. To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

LTC Offering Welding Classes in June
People wanting to learn how to weld, brush up on their welding skills, and create art from metal will have an opportunity to do that through Lincoln Trail College this summer. LTC is offering a pair of community education classes for people to experience welding. Welding 101 will be offered Tuesday evenings in June from 5:30-7 p.m. at the McCoy Welding Center. Jackson Hemrich will lead the class that offers an introduction to the basics of welding.

LTC Plans Fun Summer Classes for Kids
Lincoln Trail College is planning a series of fun programs for children this summer. The first class is Crochet for Youth and it runs from June 3-6 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The class is geared for kids in grades 1-4 and is led by Betty Engel. Students will learn the basics of crocheting. They will need to bring a size I hook and one skein of acrylic yarn for the class. Crochet for Youth costs $20 and has a May 29 registration deadline.

WVC Awards Scholarships to Mount Carmel High School Students at Honors Night
Wabash Valley College proudly awarded scholarships to deserving Mount Carmel High School students during their Honors Night on Thursday, May 9th. These scholarships presented by WVC's academic advisor Brady Martin and Wabash Valley Arts Council Representative Dennis Stroughmat, aim to support students in pursuing higher education and achieving their academic goals.

OCC Student Captures Second Place in Welding Competition
Ířşě±¬ÁĎ student Landyn Piercefield was among the top finishers in the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center Welding Competition in Evansville. The OCC sophomore captured second place in the Apprentice Category, which is open to those ages 18-22. “I really enjoyed the competition,” Piercefield said. “It shows you where you stand in comparison to other welders your age. I like seeing where I stand and trying to improve my skills.”

OCC Ignite Curiosity Summer Camps Start May 30
Dive into a world of exploration and excitement with Ířşě±¬ÁĎ’s Ignite Curiosity Summer Camps! These fun-filled, one-day camps offer an excellent opportunity for students to explore their interests and hobbies while having a great time with peers. Students can attend just one camp or all seven while engaging in plenty of hands-on activities under the guidance of OCC instructors. All camps will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Camps available include: Metaling Around – Welding | Grades 7-12

OCC 60th Commencement May 10
Ířşě±¬ÁĎ will hold its 60th commencement exercises at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10 in the OCC Gymnasium. Friends and relatives of the graduates are invited to attend. OCC Interim Dean of Instruction Amy Tarr will give the welcoming remarks. Other speakers include OCC President Chris Simpson and OCC Alumnus Dr. Tanner Miller, who will give the Commencement Address.
