From Seoul to Robinson: Cy Yunā€™s Journey Through Baseball, Culture, and Opportunity
Cy Yun didnā€™t take the typical path to sports marketing. His journey began on the baseball fields of Seoul, South Korea, where he spent ten hours a day perfecting his game. In South Korea, being a baseball player was not just a passionā€”it was a profession, even at a young age. But the system was unforgiving. When Cy wasnā€™t drafted into the professional league, his path seemed to hit a dead end.

Lincoln Trail College Unveils New Athletic Performance Center, The Barn
Lincoln Trail College is proud to announce the opening of The Barn, a state-of-the-art athletic performance center designed to enhance the training and development of its student-athletes. Located on the LTC campus, The Barn features a comprehensive weight room, modern cardiovascular equipment, and an indoor training facility for baseball and softball that can also be adapted for indoor soccer practice. This multifunctional approach ensures that student-athletes from various sports can benefit from top-notch training environments year-round.

Lincoln Trail College Ranked Among Best in US
Intelligent.com, a widely recognized source for higher education rankings and research, has included Lincoln Trail College in its annual assessment, awarding it The Best Community Colleges for 2025. In their rankings of the Top 50 Community Colleges in the United States, LTC was ranked 40th.

LTC Welcomes Kamplain as TRIO Student Support Services Academic Advisor

LTC Hosting Vampire-Themed Costume Contest
To celebrate the opening night of Dracula, The Arts at Lincoln Trail College invites theatergoers to participate in a thrilling vampire-themed costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to unleash their creativity and come dressed as their favorite Dracula-inspired characters on October 31. The contest will be judged on five key criteria:

Trick or Treat at the Trail Returns October 24, 2024
Lincoln Trail Collegeā€™s beloved Trick or Treat at the Trail is returning this year on October 24 from 4-6 p.m. The yearā€™s event will return to its roots and become an indoor event. ā€œWe had a lot of success with this event outside the last two years,ā€ said Illinois Eastern Community Collegeā€™s Director of Marketing Chris Forde. ā€œWeā€™re excited now to bring the event back inside for the first time since 2019.ā€

Emily McColpin Becomes Peer Leader
Lincoln Trail College student Emily McColpin has been named the Collegeā€™s first Peer Support Leader. In her position, she will work closely with Mental Health Specialist Holly Oā€™Brien to build awareness of mental health issues, services, and programs to support student wellbeing and growth. ā€œI decided to be a peer support leader because I value that everyone goes through hard times, and sometimes we just need someone to talk to,ā€ said McColpin. ā€œAs a student myself, I can see how it may be intimidating to talk to an adult rather than someone around my age.ā€

LTC Collaborates with Scouting America for Merit Badge Fair
Lincoln Trail College and Scouting America collaborated on a Merit Badge Fair on September 21. The event gave area Scouts a chance to come to Lincoln Trail College for the day and work on specific merit badges through the help of Lincoln Trail College employees.  President Tona Ambrose says the event came from a United Way meeting in the spring where Noah Olson talked about other similar events and that he was looking for a partner in this area.

Terry Johnson ('94) Speaks at Mayor's Breakfast
Terry Johnson (ā€™94) was a star athlete at Lincoln Trail College and remains the only athlete to be named All-Conference in baseball and basketball. He is now entering his fourth year as an assistant coach at Purdue. He served as the keynote speaker at the Robinson Mayorā€™s Breakfast. Mayor Mike Shimer (ā€˜72) asked Johnson to talk about leadership after Shimer gave his annual State of the City address. Johnson mixed together his experiences at Lincoln Trail College with his points about how leadership can be hard and lonely.
