Lincoln Trail College is preparing for two Children’s Summer Theater productions this June.   Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo KIDS is scheduled for children entering 1st – entering 5th grade, meeting weekdays from May 28th – June 28th from 9 a.m.-11 am. Show times will be June 27th and 28th at 7 p.m.  

Lincoln Trail College students and employees took part in a once-in-a-lifetime event with the April 8 total solar eclipse. While the day was an online learning day, there was still no shortage of activity on the campus, which was in the path of totality. The Statesmen Grill offered an eclipse-themed menu. LTC offered eclipse-themed snacks during the event and also played eclipse-themed music.

Two representatives from BWX Technologies’ Mt. Vernon, Ind. location visited Lincoln Trail College’s welding program to talk with students and make a donation.  Josh Duncan and Jared Smith talked to students about BWXT work environment. The company does Naval nuclear work, powering submarines and aircraft carriers. They also design and fabricate specialty nuclear and non-nuclear components for United States government, commercial, and university locations. 

Lincoln Trail College inducted its newest members into the Alpha Iota Epsilon Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders.  

Lincoln Trail College sophomore Guadalupe Amicone is wrapping up her one-year term as a Student Trustee on the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees.  

Over 70 high school artists in Crawford County participated in Lincoln Trail College’s Celebrate Art! event. The day gives artists a chance to be inspired by hearing from a guest artist. They also viewed artwork submitted to the Celebrate Art! contest and voted for a People’s Choice award.  

Lincoln Trail College Theater Director Taylor Dahlberg announced the cast for The Arts at Lincoln Trail College’s production of A Year With Frog and Toad.  

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and Lincoln Trail College along with community colleges all over will be celebrating and recognizing their CTE programs that successfully prepare students as they enter the workforce.  CTE programs often differentiate themselves from others by providing a more hands-on opportunity for students as they learn and gain experience before joining their respective industries. 

Lincoln Trail College will host a gallery featuring nearly 100 pieces of artwork from area children. The Children’s Art Show features 86 pieces of art from students from Hutsonville Junior High, New Hebron Christian School, Nuttall Middle School, Oblong Elementary School and Junior High, and Palestine Grade School.   The Art Show will be open to the public from February 5-16 in the Lincoln Trail College Learning Commons, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:30-4:00 on Fridays.
